Further information on Commander MC128 W/X Keyboard
A full 128 key keyboard with a built in 2 track
Magnetic swipe reader (MSR), the MC128 is ideal for POS systems
that require a large number of programmable keys. The MC128 is
a compact design that packs the maximum number of keys into the
smallest available space, saving on valuable counter space.
In addition the built in MSR caters for cheque/debit/credit
card processing or loyalty system. When a magnetic card is swiped,
a good read is confirmed by the LED on the keyboard and the data
read from the card is passed to the POS/PC system via the keyboard
interface as if typed.
The key map is stored on board the keyboard via
an EEPROM and is easily modified without the use of DIP switches
via a PC based DOS program. Through this unique interface and
a daisy chained standard keyboard, all keys and options of the
PC-POS keyboard can be programmed with strings, scan codes or
ASCII information. Keyboard configurations can be read from the
keyboard, modified and written back to the keyboard. Additionally,
configurations can be saved out to a file for storage and later
modification. MSR track selection can also be programmed along
with header and trailer information (especially useful for EFT
programming applications).
In operation no special software is required as
all controls and key assignments are held within the keyboard.
There are 128 single relegendable keys and the
option of double (1x2), trInternational POS Limitede (1x3) and
quad (2x2) sized keys. Blanks are also available.
