International POS Ltd (IPOS) have successfully completed a project to install a new chip&pin solution for Harrogate Tourist Information Centre's(TIC's) along with Poswyse multi branch stock control software for the Knaresborough, Ripon and Pateley Bridge sites.
The project started with the installation of the Poswyse stock control module with
Ih extra stock locations at the Harrogate head office to accommodate the other three TIC sites.
Ian Cannings of EFT-POS.com, an IPOS partner provided consultancy services to Harrogate TIC's regarding the choice of the chip&pin solution. This was necessary as Harrogate Council are becoming part of the Government Secure Network. This means that no communication (SSL) or otherwise can go directly out from their site to the internet. A solution was recommended which uses the vx510 chip &pin terminals so they could place these in a DMZ network which can do TCP connects out to the outside world. The POS terminals then remain on the internal protected network and connect to the vx510 to send the value/purchase etc and the vx510s communicate out from there.
The chip&pin solution was first tested by Harrogate TIC and as that proved to be a success the installation of Poswyse Software and the Vx510 terminals were then implemented into the Knaresbourough, Ripon and Pateley Bridge sites.
Poswyse software was able to run on existing computers and with the addition of a Tysso PRP-080 receipt printer, cash drawer and Zebex bar code scanner provided a simple cost effective EPOS solution.
