IPOS RS New Convenience Store Install

IPOS has added a new site in the North East of England to the growing number of IPOS RS Software installations to the convenience store market.

Newbottle Stores is a very successful convenience store business based near Sunderland that provides a valuable service to the local community.

Initially Newbottle Stores purchased an EPOS system using the DOS operating system which although was reliable is now no longer supported.

IPOS RS Software ticked all the boxes to provide an off the shelf solution for EPOS and stock control. The software was also customised to provide reports to make the buying process simple. The stock order reports have been customised so that Will Render the owner of the business can visit his supplier with the product order list tailored so that he can walk round the cash &carry wholesaler in the exact sequence as he buys the products.

The store needed two compact pos terminals as selling space is always at a premium which was achieved with the Tysso 5715integrated POS terminal. The Tysso 5715 touch screen terminal is an All-in-one design and was configured with an integrated VFD customer display. The Tysso 5715 terminal also uses the latest ultra low voltage computer processor which keeps down the power consumption. Together with the fast Tysso thermal receipt printer and cash drawer makes a robust, compact solution.

Will also chose the Zebex 6070 omnidirectional laser scanner to ensure that customers are served quickly and efficiently at the point of sale. The Zebex 6070 laser scanner has achieved an Internationally recognised design award for its performance and reliability and has a great price/ performance ratio when compared with other leading brand names

Following the successful installation Newbottle Stores has taken advantage of the IPOS online support web site which hosts a comprehensive knowledge base as well as providing remote desk top support for any additional training.

The Tysso system may also integrate with Commidea’s Ocius chip&pin system to provide a solution, which is approved by all major UK bank acquirers.

The main factor with speed when processing card transactions is that with the Ocius chip&pin solution integrated in to the system the amount is automatically sent to the chip&pin terminal. This also means less errors and that reconciliation process is also much easier.

This will also means even greater efficiency and speed at the point of sale.

Miriam Whittle International POS Ltd-Company Secretary Sad News

Miriam Whittle

Miriam Whittle

It is with deep regret that we have to inform you that Miriam Whittle passed away peacefully on the 4th April 2010.

Miriam had a long standing illness, which was caused by failing of the kidney, which she had for 10 years. A recent infection caused by e.coli started the final renal failure process and she died in the Lancaster Royal Infirmary.

The NHS do get bad press but we all agree that the care, attention and dedication shown to Miriam by all of  the doctors and nursing staff was exceptional and we thank them for making the last few days we spent with her as comfortable as possible.

Miriam’s determination over the 10 years to overcome the illness demonstrated her very positive view on life. Miriam had an open and friendly personality. As a keen gardener she spent many happy hours in our front garden and was always chatting with people passing. Miriam made friends with one Chinese lady who was attending Lancaster University and, when she left, presented Miriam with a picture, which just included a Chinese character and told her she was a beautiful person and thanked her for her friendship.

Miriam was the wife of Managing Director, Frank Whittle, and mother of sons Peter, Daniel and Jason Whittle who all participate in the running of International POS Ltd.

Miriam was not only Company Secretary but was inspirational in the running of the business and supporting all the family members and will be sorely missed.

Harrogate Tourist Information Centres upgrade EPOS system with Chip&pin

International POS Ltd (IPOS) have successfully completed a project to install a new chip&pin solution for Harrogate Tourist Information Centre’s(TIC’s) along with Poswyse multi branch stock control software for the Knaresborough, Ripon and Pateley Bridge sites.

The project started with the installation of the Poswyse stock control module with extra stock locations at the Harrogate head office to accommodate the other three TIC sites.

Ian Cannings of EFT-POS.com, an IPOS partner provided consultancy services to Harrogate TIC’s regarding the choice of the chip&pin solution. This was necessary as Harrogate Council are becoming part of the Government Secure Network. This means that no communication (SSL) or otherwise can go directly out from their site to the internet. A solution was recommended which uses the vx510 chip &pin terminals so they could place these in a DMZ network which can do TCP connects out to the outside world. The POS terminals then remain on the internal protected network and connect to the vx510 to send the value/purchase etc and the vx510s communicate out from there.

The chip&pin solution was first tested by Harrogate TIC and as that proved to be a success the installation of Poswyse Software and the Vx510 terminals were then implemented into the Knaresbourough, Ripon and Pateley Bridge sites.

Poswyse software was able to run on existing computers and with the addition of a Tysso PRP-080 receipt printer, cash drawer and Zebex bar code scanner provided a simple cost effective EPOS solution.
